up to $250 for assistance with prescriptions, durable medical equipment and eyeglasses

Breakfast Bookworm:
This is a children’s literacy promotion program taking place once per month in four Henderson elementary schools.  All students who wish to participate must bring an adult to participate with them, and may also bring siblings.  The children are served a nutritious, light breakfast and a volunteer reads the ‘book of the month.’  Each family is provided a new copy of the book and each child who attends may then select a book of their choice to take home.  The families are asked to commit to read together for 15 minutes each day.  For more information about this program, please contact Courtney Broadbent .

Family Support and Intervention Program:
This is a collaborative effort between HACA and four Henderson elementary schools.  The program’s liaison accepts referrals from school personnel and local Child Protective Services personnel for families that may need support systems to prevent abuse and neglect.  For more information on this program, please contact Moly Puno.

Community Events:
Back 2 School Celebration: 
a community-wide collaborative event which provides school supplies and clothing to over 1200 Henderson area children.

HACAween:  a safe and fun carnival atmosphere in which neighborhood children can celebrate Halloween.

Thanksgiving Baskets:  a nutritious meal delivered to shut in seniors within the Henderson area.

Candy Cane Kids:  a Holiday event which provides gifts to local area children.

Community Service Referral Program:
This program allows Clark County and Henderson criminal court programs to refer offenders to HACA for mandated community service hours.

Educational Resource Lab: 
This is a year-round resource area available for Internet research, word processing projects, job searches, school projects, GED training,  and tutoring.  This lab is located in the HACA facility and is open to any client with a need.

Eligibility requirements

If you are applying for assistance, please bring the following documents with you at the time of your visit:
* picture ID for all adults in the household
* Social Security cards for everyone in the household (including children)
* copy of your lease or mortgage payment
* list of all expenses for the past 30 days
* proof of all income for the last 30 days (including spouses income, SSI, TANF, court papers regarding child support, food stamp statement of benefits, etc.)
* paperwork to substantiate a change in circumstances which led to the need for assistance (i.e. a work layoff, illness, job change, repair bill, etc.)
* paperwork to substantiate how you will pay the fills the following month (intent to hire notice, etc.)
